It comes with a sleeveless top and matching skirt, and is shorter than the waistine. Any ideas on how to make it more formal? I am talking about an English law firm btw.

Cute, l guess my answer would depend on your age. Under 30 this definitely would be both age appropriate and within the guidelines of work dress. Over 30, no, too young a look.
Modest jewelry and the right shoes will set the tone for how formal you want to be. Flats, casual.. heels, dressed up. :)

To make it more formal, it should be black or a navy blue. For a casual work day, the color (gray) should be fine. Make sure you wear pantyhose with it and do not remove the blazer.
