I am in grade nine, and l still have no idea what l wanna do in the future. My original plans were to go university, since an apprenticeship requires hands on skills, which l am terrible at. Some of the things I am interested in are writing (such as journalism) and the musical arts (i.e. instrumental or vocal). I am also interested in things involving history and geography, and as mentioned before, I am terrible at working with my hands. l am much more practical in a classroom, than learning how to fix cars. Most people say l could not survive in an apprenticeship type environment, though it is inexpensive, it would not be very challenging mentally. Most of How can l find out more about careers involving these things and learn to choose courses in high school to help better me for the future? How did you end up choosing your career? What advice would you give someone who is completely clueless. Thanks so much!

To start: relax. As the old joke goes, the reason why adults ask kids what they want to do with their lives is bcz they r looking for ideas for themselves.
It is tough to discover what suites you. Not doing an apprenticeship is OK - working with ones hands is not for everyone. Do what u LOVE & realize that it may not pay u a lot of money. If u love writing, develop those skills. Ditto for any music related avenues u may want to peruse.
There r assessment tests u can take to guide u to what may be suited for u - some r online & free (you will get a very basic summary & they will charge u for more details.) Does ur school offer career guidance? Maybe they have such tests.

My career path was not typical: When l was a little younger than u l wanted to be a vet bcz l love animals - then l dissected my first frog in science class & said no thanks. l then focused on law bcz l love words, writing, debating, & l am detail oriented. l interned in various firms through college & then decided it was not for me (it had to do with quality of life, nobody seemed happy doing it, etc) So, l had a strong background in English & writing, & l speak Spanish. l ended up hiring & training/leading people for companies. It was fun but now l have launched my own business & l am also writing again w/hopes to one day complete the novel that has been dormant in me for years. l am just one example but seriously, relax, be resiliant, be open to things u may not have considered & enjoy yourself - that is key, get in a job in an area u do not like & ur life really does suffer. Do what u enjoy & u will be SO much happier.
