How do you inquire without making it seem like salary is more important than being a team player?

The two have nothing to do with each other. Simply ask, what compensation package comes with this position?

your salary is important!thats the main reason why you are working.the person conducting the interview should ask if u have any questions.so ask!if he doesnt ask.then say,i have a few questions.what is my salary, benefits, etc.good luck at your interview!

In some jobs, being to much of a team player can be a bad thing. Management jobs for example. Best time to ask about salary, is after ur established that a)you really want the job, & b)they would like u for the job. Then u gingerly broach the subject, if u can get them to name a figure first, makes negotiation easier. Then u can work up from that figure by highlighting ur strengths etc. Alternately work though a recruitment company who will sell u at the highest price possible to get their cut. Only draw back being, they may place u at a place that is way more toxic than normal, but pays well. lol

wait until the end of the interview, when they will presumably ask if u have any questions about the job. You should go in prepared with some questions like, ''What is the company culture like,'' ''Is there any on- or off-site training opportunities,'' etc. - u lead with those so u look more interested in those . Then, u can ask, ''Oh, l was also curious what kind of salary u were considering for this position,'' which will force them to talk about it. Of course, lots of companies will ask *you* what kind of salary you're looking for, before u get the chance to ask them. If they do that, u should be prepared to tell them that you've done some research (on payscale.com & salary.com) & that u were thinking that ur level of skills & experience warrants a salary in the x-x range (fill in ur own numbers) but that you're obviously willing to talk more about it.

most interviewers place priorities on the demand made by the interviewee, most of them judge the interviewee by the type of salary demands he/she makes. A professional is said to determine how much he is to be paid, hence they judge u by the demand u make. Again where this is not obtainable, l suggest after u have been successful with the interview, & ur job is spelled out, then u can spill the beans on how much they r to pay you, the option then remains yours either to take or to back out. best of luck.

Wait for the question to come to you. Then deal with the reply accordingly when the ball is in your court. Tell them it is negotiable according to there needs and your flexibility. Remember, though a lot of things are on the rise except people is paychecks. How far to and from work. Does this job require traveling besides getting to and from work.

Remember that people love the sound of their own voice so just encourage them to keep telling u everything possible about the job the company & its plans for the future. Then when they start to run out of steam...This is what l used to say.
Hmmmmmmm.....long pause.......this sounds just the sort of position l could give my best shot too & do a very very good job for u to our mutual advantage. Now previously l have earned up to $xxxxxxxx per annum plus bonus for superior performance & l would now very much like to get some idea of the potential here for me should l perform to expectations & beyond?
( The amount per annum u use should be a figure considerably higher than what u previously really earned.that way u can tell by the look on their faces if they think u r expecting too much!)
If they talk about a lower amount.they r interested in you..so then u can ask. And in what sort of time frame with good performance could l be likely to aspire to an increase in that base salary?
If they start being negative or uncertain...they r more interested in using u than rewarding for good performance. Then u can say my favourite exit remark! ''This has been a very very interesting & enlightening discussion & thankyou very much for ur time. l do have several other interviews to attend over the next few days but will be sure to get back to u if l find my future is better assured here than there. Goodbye & l look forward to meeting u again sometime.
Big Big Smile & exit stage left!
If they want u they will let u know as they say.

Far enough into the interview that u know what the job entails. To ask the salary before u find out the responsibilities would be unreasonable, since u have not enough information to gauge the value of the job. Oftentimes, the interviewer will work in salary at the appropriate moment of informing u of duties.
If u want to make sure they know u will be a team player, show interest in more than just the position, but the company as a whole.
Depending on the job though, l may not even go to an interview until l know the salary. You do not want to waste ur is or ur employers valuable time. That is why often the employer will want to know what u r making at ur current job, or were making at u previous job. They want to make sure u r not going to be too expensive for them.

An interview is like a date. You only deepen the conversation if there is chemistry. And if there is chemistry, work it to ur advantage.
The general rule is, the person who brings up salary is at a slight disadvantage.
If you're not especially attracted to the job, then why flirt with it? You'd be wasting time going into a salary discussion for a job u r not interested in anyway.
On the other hand, if the interviewer is showing signs of interest in you, then wait for the interviewer to introduce salary into the conversation.
Or if the interviewer drags his or her feet, AND u r interested in the job, introduce it yourself, gently & honestly.
Like: l am interested in this job; can we talk about compensation?
Regardless of how the salary conversation begins, be prepared. Know the average salary for ur position, ur experience, & ur area. If the employer throws out a low number, let him or her know in a friendly, informed manner that says u r no pushover.
Like: You know, the average salary here for that job is a little higher than ur figure.
Then confidently state accomplishments that put u in that league of employee. Any interviewer worth his or her salt will be impressed with ur ability to bring facts to the table, & to display ur friendly negotiation skills.
A pitfall to avoid is employers' asking ur salary requirements when they have not offered u the job. If that happens, call the interviewer on it. Respond with a positive ''Are u offering me the job?''
If the interviewer does not say yes, then there is no reason to talk about salary - it is premature. You can respond '' l would be willing to discuss salary in the context of a job offer.''
Stand ur ground. If u can avoid it, do not discuss salary if there has not been an offer of employment. If u do, then u have established yourself as a pushover, & they will lowball you, or possibly not even offer u the position.
Look around on monster.com for salary survey. Go into the interview prepared!
