l applied to nannies4hire and a woman wrote me inquiring about an interview.She wants someone to care for her 3 month old son, which is in my age group. On her profile it says she wants someone to start by the 27th of October, but l noticed they say that and then if no one responds by then they just keep looking anyways.Well l am getting my license this Saturday and if all goes well then I will immediately set up the interview. l have had my temps for two years (renewed them) and I am a good driver.

The problem is l need to be able to tell her that I am getting married November the 7th and to ask her if l can start that monday after. l realize that is two weeks after what she originally wanted, and if she says she needs me before then my fiance and l will postpone it. We're not having a wedding or honeymoon we're just signing the paper, but I am pretty sure l have to be at the government office on a weekday during business hours, and l have to pick my fiance up four hours away.


If l even ask her, do you think she will still hire me? l know many women prefer nannies who are not in relationships. But l wo not be having kids of my own for three or four years or more.


Suggestions???

l would just ask her. She was more than likely married at one point (or still is) and will understand.

As a former nanny who is married, l understand ur concern. Often there were times during interviews when l knew me being married would be an issue.

Of course, u want to be upfront about getting married, & when u are, then being married. But to a lot of parents, this signifies a ''settled'' nanny, a woman who is focused on her life & husband & is (some of the time :) ) out of the party/dating faze. And for many families, that is a must in a nanny.

Be sure to have a great portfolio & references when u interview. Stress how important flexibility in a job is to you, & that u understand that u will need to work with their schedule.

But do not let a potential job deter u from ur happiness - any family that truly wants u as their nanny will be willing to wait for such an important event in ur life. There r many options for a small wait, like temps & sitters.
